DY718 steel is made in super pre-hardened plastic mould steel. Vacuum degassing and ESR remelting, pure steel, sulfur content and gas content is very low (ω (S) ≤ 0.005%), excellent mirror polishing performance, etching EDM spark processing performance is good, pre-hard state delivery, without further heat treatment can be directly machined; to stress annealing and surface nitriding treatment, the size and hardness changes little. 


Nitrided surface smooth and dense, with good corrosion resistance, is conducive to product release and improve production efficiency. For the local need to obtain higher hardness and improve the service life of the mold, the method can be used to achieve local heating of oxyacetylene flame.

Quenching and tempering specifications

Preheat temperature 500 ~ 600 ° C, heat 2 ~ 4h, quenching temperature 850 ~ 880 ° C, at least insulation 2h, baked in oil cooled to 50 ~ 100 ° C, and then air-cooled to room temperature, diameter or thickness <100mm Can be air-quenched. Hardness after quenching up to 50 ~ 53HRC, should be promptly tempered.

Flame quenching norms

Will need hardened parts, heated to light red, the temperature is about 850 ~ 950 ° C, and then cooled in the air. Should be tempering, tempering temperature of 150 ~ 200 ° C, flame hardening, the surface hardness of up to 45 ~ 50HRC.

In the flame hardening treatment, the mold should be properly preheated to 150 ~ 200 ° C, to prevent mold cracking.
