5Cr2 Hardware Tool Steel Sheet

5Cr2 steel is the abbreviation of German standard steel number 5CrNiMoVSi. Because 5CrNiMo  and 5CrMnMo steel have low content of alloying elements, low hardenability and thermal stability are not high, and the steel does not contain V, the grains are easy to be coarse, and the service life of the mold is low. In order to meet the requirements of large cross-section forging hammers and forging presses, forging die rigidity with higher hardenability and tempering stability is required, so 5Cr2 special steel was developed.

5Cr2 steel also has the second hardening ability. Their high temperature strength is 50% higher than that of 5CrNiMo steel, the thermal stability is 100~150℃ higher, and the impact toughness is similar. In addition, the thermal wear resistance, thermal fatigue resistance and thermal crack propagation resistance of steel are also stronger than 5CrNiMo.

Quenching and tempering specifications:

The quenching temperature is 970~990℃, the tempering temperature is 650~680℃, and the hardness is 36~44HRC.
